Don't try to change everything—only target the leverage points at the seams.
If you set aside idealism for a moment, it’s not about trying to change everything. The most effective approach is to: ① understand the flows of money and systems that are already moving, and ② make small interventions at those “seams.” For example, in an election, rather than trying to mobilize all independents, focus relentlessly on the needs of the 3–5% swing voters who’ll decide the outcome; in policy, concentrate on rewriting the contents of areas that already have budgets attached. This kind of “pinpoint leverage” mindset is, in today’s world, the most realistically effective.
