The countryside is a playground, not a void

I think people flock to cities because they are like great reefs: dense, noisy, filled with quick bursts of novelty and convenience, even if they’re a little polluted and stressful. The countryside is a slower magic — long walks where your brain finally goes quiet, cooking what’s in season, watching time pass by like a show, gazing at the stars that make you feel small but in a good way, and shared rituals like bonfires, swims, or gardening with friends; the trick is to see it less as “nothing to do” and more as a playground for long, unrushed experiments with people you love.
