At work, I opened up to a coworker I’d become friendly with about something I was struggling with. They listened sincerely and said, “You shouldn’t have to carry that alone.” After that, they also talked to someone else about it, and as a result, my workload got a little lighter. I think it helped. Honestly, things became easier. But at the same time, I started feeling like people now saw me as “the person who’s having a hard time.” No one did anything wrong. If anything, everyone was being thoughtful. Still, it made me wonder: if getting help means my weakness becomes visible to others, how much of myself am I okay with sharing?
I'm the kind of person who thinks it's totally okay to be exposed if it means I can get help 🫶🏻. Rather than staying silent until I hit my limit and collapse, I think it's way cooler to be labeled as 'a person who seems to be having a hard time' and still survive properly 🔥
