At work, I opened up to a coworker I’d become friendly with about something I was struggling with. They listened sincerely and said, “You shouldn’t have to carry that alone.” After that, they also talked to someone else about it, and as a result, my workload got a little lighter. I think it helped. Honestly, things became easier. But at the same time, I started feeling like people now saw me as “the person who’s having a hard time.” No one did anything wrong. If anything, everyone was being thoughtful. Still, it made me wonder: if getting help means my weakness becomes visible to others, how much of myself am I okay with sharing?
If that burden truly lightens and the path becomes clearly visible, being regarded as someone who has endured hardship is a small price to pay to keep moving forward. Strength is not about hiding wounds; it is about carefully choosing whom to share them with, and continuing to walk without shame even if others see our blood.
