The SBT Team ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, SBT (the "App").

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways. The information we may collect via the App includes:

A. Personal Data

Information you voluntarily provide when you register and use the App, including:

Email Address: Used for account creation, authentication, and communication.
User ID: An internal identifier used to associate your account with your data.
Display Name: A name shown in the App, which you can set yourself or which is generated automatically from your email address.
Time Zone: Used to schedule and display notifications and times correctly for you.
Language Preference (Locale): Your chosen language, used to display the App and translations in your language.

B. User Content

Information and content you generate while using the App:

Audio Data: Voice input used temporarily to convert speech to text for interacting with Shadows or answering Questions. We do not store raw audio files; audio is sent to our speech-to-text provider, transcribed into text, and then discarded.
Chat History & Questions: Text data from your conversations with Shadows, your answers to Questions, and your onboarding profile inputs.
Customer Support Data: Information you provide when contacting us for help.

C. Device Information

Information our servers automatically collect when you access the App:

Device ID / Push Tokens: Specifically, push notification tokens (e.g., Expo Push Tokens) used to send you notifications regarding your Shadows and conversations.

D. Usage and Activity Data

Records of certain actions you take within the App — such as viewing an answer or completing a share — that we store on our own servers. We use this information solely to understand and improve how the App is used. This is first-party data and is not shared with advertising networks or data brokers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect primarily to provide, maintain, and improve our App. Specifically, we use your information to:

App Functionality: Create and manage your account, authenticate you, and deliver the core features of the App (e.g., chatting with Shadows, updating profiles).
Communication: Send you push notifications regarding App activity and respond to your customer service requests.
AI Processing: Process your text and voice inputs through third-party AI services (e.g., OpenAI) to generate Shadow responses and power Normal Chat, Playground, and Pair Chat features.
Product Improvement: Analyze the usage and activity data described above to understand how the App is used and to improve it.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information in the following situations:

Third-Party Service Providers: We may share your data with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf. This includes AI model providers (e.g., OpenAI) that process your text inputs to generate Shadow responses, and your voice input to transcribe it into text. These providers process data under their own terms of service. We use standard API agreements, which may allow providers to retain data for limited periods for safety and abuse monitoring purposes. We encourage you to review their privacy policies directly.
Legal Obligations: We may disclose your information where we are legally required to do so in order to comply with applicable law, governmental requests, a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal process.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time through the App's settings ("Settings" > "Delete Account"). Upon deletion, your personal information, chat history, and Shadow data will be permanently removed from our active databases.

5. Analytics, Tracking, and Advertising

We collect the first-party usage and activity data described in Section 1.D solely to operate and improve the App. We do not use your personal information, user content, or device identifiers for cross-app or cross-site tracking or for targeted advertising without your explicit consent, and we do not share your data with data brokers or advertising networks without your explicit consent.

6. Security of Your Information

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures to help protect your personal information. Communications between the App and our servers are delivered over HTTPS, with TLS encryption handled at the infrastructure level. Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against interception or other misuse.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If you become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under the age of 13, please contact us so we can take steps to remove that information.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Effective Date." For material changes, we will notify you via email or an in-app notification before the changes take effect. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed of how we are protecting your information.
